Some jobs will not come off the machine or off the ground, and for those a mobile welder comes out on a callout. A callout is billed differently from shop work and is worth understanding before you book one.

A callout is $130 an hour with a $450 minimum. The minimum covers the drive, the equipment for the day and the first two hours on site, and the clock runs by the quarter hour after that. More work at the same address, or another stop on the same run, is billed at the hourly rate with no second minimum, so it is worth listing everything that needs doing when you call. The same repair at the bench is $85 an hour with no minimum beyond the first hour.

Most of the work here is done at the bench, and a part brought in is billed by the hour from the time the work starts, with a one hour minimum and nothing added for a trip. A callout is the other way around: the minimum covers the drive, the equipment for the day and the first two hours on site, and the clock runs by the quarter hour after that. Several jobs at one address, or several stops on the same run, are billed at the hourly rate without a second minimum. Rates do not stack, so a callout at 10pm is billed at the emergency rate rather than at the emergency and the after-hours rate together. Example jobs and what they came to are on the welding rates page.
A callout booked ahead is $130 an hour with a $450 minimum covering the drive, the equipment for the day and the first two hours on site. After 9pm, Sundays and holidays are $195 an hour with a $550 minimum, and a same-day callout is $260 an hour with a $650 minimum.
A callout pays for the drive and for the equipment that goes out for the day before anything gets welded, and that cost is the same whether the repair takes twenty minutes or two hours.
A part brought to the shop is $85 an hour with a one hour minimum and no trip charge, so anything that unbolts or tows in costs less that way.
We cover Fresno, Clovis, Sanger, Selma, Kingsburg, Fowler, Kerman, Reedley and Madera, and farther out for a larger minimum.
Not if the batteries are disconnected and the ground clamp sits on the work a few inches from the joint, so pull the terminals before we arrive.
