Most of the work here is done at the bench, and a part brought in is billed by the hour from the time the work starts, with a one hour minimum and nothing added for a trip. A callout is the other way around: the minimum covers the drive, the equipment for the day and the first two hours on site, and the clock runs by the quarter hour after that. Several jobs at one address, or several stops on the same run, are billed at the hourly rate without a second minimum. Rates do not stack, so a callout at 10pm is billed at the emergency rate rather than at the emergency and the after-hours rate together.

The published rate

The rates are on this page so they can be planned against. Work at the shop is $85 an hour with a one hour minimum. A callout is $130 an hour with a $450 minimum, because the drive and the equipment for the day are paid for before any welding happens. Neither number changes because the machine is expensive or because the job is urgent. What moves the total is how long the work takes, whether anybody has to drive out, and what time of day you need somebody.

Example jobs

Bracket or small part brought in, under an hour$85
Utility trailer fender or ramp hinge, towed in, two hours$170
Gate panel off its hinges, squared and rebuilt at the bench, three hours$255
Implement frame crack in the field, callout, two hours$450
Same job after 9pm during harvest$550

What changes the price

What you can do on your end

  1. Take the part off and bring it in, because shop work is $85 an hour against $130 with a $450 minimum for a callout.
  2. Batch the work, since several repairs on one callout come to a single minimum.
  3. Book inside standard hours when the machine can wait until morning.
  4. Clean and clear the area before we arrive.
  5. Send photos first, so that the right rod and gas are loaded before the truck leaves.
